Thai (Hmong & Yao) Baby Carriers

These are vintage baby carriers from Thailand. All were designed and hand-sewn by women of the Hmong Tribes. These whimsical collectibles are each pieced together from various fabric types and all include decorative work that is absolutely fascinating. Honestly, I find myself getting lost in them if I look too close. (And they all smell like camp fires . . .)

-The Yao (or Mien) are known for their stunning cross-stitch embroidery, which you can see across the top of these pieces.
-The Hmong are known for embroidery, which you can see in these pieces, but you will also see fine hand-batiking combined with intricate sewn piece-work, akin to quilting on a tiny scale.

The blankets are roughly 2' X 26", with the Hmong being narrower than the Yao. These are NOT intended for use as modern baby carriers.
